I finished book 2 finally, please clap. :P It was good stuff. One thing I was hoping for was the story to come down to a kind of intellectual fight between Kwin and Abigail, it seemed like that's where it was going. In the end it seems like it was Alastor v Abigail instead, but he was playing her and she didn't even know it. It was the only way their plan worked right, Abigail was so determined to kill Elvia but only because everything Alastor did made her want to do that. Imagine if Abigail had decided to actually kill Kwin first. Maybe Alastor would have gotten there faster if she was gonna do that but it seemed like he had to wait to show his hand.

I like how it went though, especially since Kwin eventually got her revenge kinda. She's also kind of a gigachad through a bunch of different parts of the book. She lectures a waitress on how to pronounce a dish and then doesn't even order it and she doesn't mind going into the tombs because she knows corpses don't cause trouble. The funniest part is at the end just before Abigail shows up, so this is after Hercules sails across the world after bringing the Shuski with him, he defends them, he risks his life (kinda) to help overthrow Devnon and other stuff right. Lindsay asks if Hercules will be ok staying behind, and Kwin's just like "I literally do not care" and walks away. Probably the biggest laugh I had in the book. :P Gonna start book 3 this week.

@Lindsay I love that and you're probably right. She tried talking to her dad and it didn't work and she was so hurt by it that it eventually factored into her deciding to try to end her life. Then he came back and made her upset again by trying to convince her to wake up. She definitely would have had something ready in case someone else came along because that's the one thing she wanted most.

@Proxy It is kind of cool to think about it like Alastor tricking Abigail the whole time. The defining moment was probably when Kwin got hurt because Elvia was there and could see it, and when that happened Alastor was like oh shit, I can't come back to help now because things are way different than any of us thought. I should probably just stay away, and in the meantime try to get Abigail to focus on Elvia since she's "safe" rather than Kwin, and it was also tricky because he had to keep Elvia's power hidden until the right moment where he could show his hand, because once he did they had a very limited time to get away. But I do agree a fight between Abigail and Kwin would have been really cool to see.

You're right about Kwin getting hurt being that moment, I was gonna ask why he couldn't just use her powers then so they could escape, but then I remembered Alastor himself didn't have his powers so he'd have to run to meet with the others and I don't know where he was. :P It might have worked but might not.

I think what's cool is how much like a video game this feels like in some parts, especially book 1. You got the low level noobs like Kai and Lindsay meeting the high level players with Kwin and Alastor who's a companion class, and they help power level the noobs and fight a malfunctioning boss NPC. :P It was hitting my nerd side and i didn't realize why for a bit.

You know what you're 100% right. The nightmares might be a virus though! Actually what does this make Semyaza and Dumar and Asmodiel, they're like GM's right? They've got ban powers and everything! They can move gamers around against their will, send mail to everyone in the world, right? Then Hayel is like, the actual developer of the game who was about to retire and had to hire some new people to keep the game going.

Actually you know what I was kinda just going along with it but think about book 2, where the mirror world is like the first version of the game where they get all the bugs out and the world as we know it is the finished polished version! Except they forgot to turn off the servers for the beta one and it's just in the basement somewhere running FOREVER.

I think I remember from the first time I read it, it was the funniest moment in the series for me, I think partly because i was already biased toward Kwin and that was the moment I was like yeah ok she's my favorite. I kept wondering if she would warm up to him eventually but nope. Which honestly fair.
